Boris Dubrov was born in Saint. Petersburg, Russia, in 1979. In 1994 Dubrov studied at the Art-Restoring Lyceum "Kupchino". The administration of this Lyceum arranged the first exhibition of his paintings. At the age of eighteen, Dubrov moved to Israel in 1997. He joined the Israeli Defense Forces and served three years. Much of his artistic growth rooted from years of military service in the Israel Defense Forces, close to the war and to the death. Boris began learning Torah when in the army and later got fascinated with the modern Hasidim culture of Israel which preserved the ways of the lost world of shtetl, pre-war Jewish communities in East Europe.

After the Army service, in 2002, he became a prize-winner of the “Young Artist” competition in Israel. In 2003 he became acquainted with master of coinage, Itshakh Cheskelson, who works in Judaica style. He painted many pictures dedicated to the mestechko life of Jewish people in the prewar epoch of the Eastern Europe.

Boris Dubrov holds a broad and versatile range of creativity. His works reflect the social features of Judaica as well as strict classicism and surrealism while concealing elements of eroticism in landscapes. The Judaica subject inspired many realistic works created in an environment where ages-old national traditions have been part of everyday life. The gradual turn to Kabbalah has brought symbolism to Dubrov's painting: mysticism interwoven with allegoric undertones of Torah. Deep philosophy of the Cabbalistic texts has plunged him into new knowledge and provided a different perspective on the old biblical stories.

Currently the works by Boris Dubrov belong to many private collections in Israel, USA, France, Great Britain, Panama, Jamaica, Russia and Ukraine. He has participated in "Salon des Artistes France" in Paris and "Judaica Art in New York in 2005 and at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem in 2006.
